Keith Hockin Antiques was one of the UK's leading dealers of early antiques with specialist stock of 16th, 17th, and 18th Century early oak furniture and works of art, including early oak carvings, early pewter, copper, and ironwork. The furniture included coffers, court cupboards, refectory tables, joint stools, livery cupboards, and wainscot chairs. All were offered for sale in a beautiful Cotswold building dating from the Tudor period, located in Stow-on-the-Wold.
In 1968 Keith became interested in old pewter and in 1970, alongside his wife Pat, opened their first shop at 76 Derby road in Nottingham, when rent was £8 a week rates £6 a month. In 1973 he was invited to join The British Antique Dealers Association (BADA) and remained a member for 50 years. Keith and Pat moved from Nottingham to Stow-on-the-Wold in July 1976 to a period property in the Square, part of it dating back to the 16th century. They exhibited at the first three British Antique Dealers Association fairs with great success. Until his passing in mid-2023, Keith continued to enjoy offering the highest quality antiques to customers old and new.
We would love to hear about your memories of Keith or any other comments you wish to make. We will keep a record of them here for his friends and family to view.
